Misfits back in action

The season has started and the Maroondah Misfits Veterans rugby team is back in action!

We played a warm-up game against Eltham’s Vets the week before Easter. It was a game of 4 quarters (as opposed to 2 halves). We won the 1st quarter, lost the next 2 and then came back from 9 points down to win the game by 29-27! I started the game at fly-half (my first time ever in this position), moved to inside centre and finished the game on the wing. We were all a little rusty, but once the team clicked, we were unstoppable! I also managed to score my first try of the season.

Last weekend was our opening game of the ‘league’ season. Unfortunately it clashed with a family do at our house, so I didn’t play but the boys pulled out a big win against Melbourne Rugby Club: 40-5

This week will be a lot tougher against the big Maori boys of Moorabbin Rams. Although we managed to beat them twice last year, they have always been our bogey team! Hopefully we can stick it to them tomorrow!
