There are plenty of reasons to keep a hunting journal but mainly you want to keep a journal so that you can learn from it. You can learn habits or notice patterns such as wind, weather, temperature or seasons.
You can make your journal as simple as a pocket notebook and pencil or you can use printed templates. You can record locations or sketch simple maps.
If you use a blank notebook, you can include packing planners, details of your hunting licence or even information about reloading ammo if you are a rifle hunter. If you are camping, you could include meal plans.
It’s your journal so you can write whatever you want. It may not help you short term, but over time as you note more information, you might be able to notice patterns.
