Not really, but it’s a catchy title.

They past two weeks since getting back to work have been manic to say the least – everybody seems to want everything done yesterday. Budgets, staff listings, marketing, awards, everyone!
.
I’ve been working mainly on budgets. Our financial year runs January to December, but they still hadn’t been finalised because the finance department hadn’t sent us anything to work with. So last Monday, my first day back at work, the emails were waiting. I have 5 departments, 3 directors and myself to do a budget for. Around $21 million to spend. Being an educational institution, we’re not allowed to show a profit. If we do, we have to give the money back to the government (and next year they will give us less!)
.
Anyway, after 10 days of emails, phone calls and meetings the final budgets went in yesterday. They’re all a bit of fiction because with all the restructuring that happened at the end of last year, we didn’t have much to base it all on. I’ll let you know at the end of the year how it all worked out for us. They other thing that complicated it for me is that we still are recruiting a director and a department manager, so their budgets really were just guesswork!
.
On the bright side, I was looking through my blog stats and spotted an unknown referrer only to discover that my blog is on a Top 50 Australian blogs list. Don’t know how when I only post sporadically, but I’ll take it. There’s some pretty stiff competition out there newspapers, foodies and the like! Look down the list to number 20!
.
This weekend is a sort of long weekend. Tuesday is Australia Day, but I’ll be working Monday. Looking forward to a weekend of fantastic weather, BBQs and maybe even a little mountain biking!
