Hot, hot, hot!

Yes, it was hot in Melbourne last week. Four days above 40 degrees C! And it was just as hot in our office ‘cos the aircon wasn’t working. We had 38C in the office on Friday afternoon. Today, 26C feels cold!

The heat caused bushfires along the South East coast of Victoria. In Melbourne, 700 trains (out of 2000) were cancelled on Friday – apparently the rails had buckled from the heat. In our suburb, the tarred roads “melted” and gravel had to be laid over it. There were power failures due to the population using too much aircon (too much?) and load sharing was introduced (helloooo, South Africa).

And all this during a drought. Needless to say, my lawn is brown, my daisies have died and my tomatoes are giving up…
