On Saturday I had to give up watching my beloved Boks thrash Fiji to watch my beloved daughter take part in the Calisthenics State Championships. Well, it turned out not to be a complete waste of time!
We sat through 42 routines in 4 hours of which our daughter competed in 4 five minute routines. The ‘tinies’ as they are called, are the under 7 year old age group and our princess is the youngest in the team.
They competed in Free Exercise, scoring a first place! They competed in Rods, scoring a second place! They also competed in Folk Dance and Action Song, but did not place in these. I’m not sure the kids even noticed that they had won anything because, by 6pm, they were all so tired that one of the little girls in another team fell asleep during the prize giving ceremony.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos because photography is not allowed during the event. I did sneak this shot with my phone during the presentations though! You’ll have to take my word for it, but she is in the front row wearing a purple and green tracksuit.
