Col and I rode the first half of the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail today. We cycled as far as Woori Yallock and back again, a total of 43.5km.
It is a nice easy ride with a low, shallow climb on the way back. The surface is mainly gritted path and some forest track.
I would recommend riding up the Mooroondah Highway from Lilydale station to the start of the trail and not attempt to follow the actual rail trail around the back of the college.
Also, be very careful when crossing the Mooroondah Highway as the traffic is quite intense. There is a pedestrian bridge planned, but who knows how long that will take!
Last, but certainly not least, the pies in Woori Yallock are amazing! You’ll understand when you get there!
