I’m in real pain… pain, pain, pain, pain, pain… (Does anyone remember this Garfield cartoon?)
I played rugby yesterday. For those of you who don’t know what rugby is, it’s a full contact sport not unlike American Football, but without the padding. I haven’t played in about 18 months and I (presumptiously) assumed that I was fit enough to last 80 minutes on the pitch. I was SOOOOOO WRONG!!
I lasted the 80 minutes, came off with a bruised wrist (somebody stepped on it in a loose), I bruised thigh (knee-to-thigh) and a wripped right ear (I played 8th man). Not too bad. Had a beer and headed off to work last night. But do you think I could get outta bed this morning!
It took me about 5 minutes just to sit up straight when my gf brought me breakfast in bed! And to get up took even longer! It’s now 7.30pm and I’m still hobbling around like a 60 year old with a hip problem. But I’ll be back for another beating in 2 weeks time (I’m in Munich for the beerfest next weekend!)
To make matters worse, we lost 33-5 to a weaker team.

Seems you got butchered in that game… and to lose to the other team as well!
Get better soon mate and enjoy the beerfest in Munich.
Down a couple for me, will you?

Is it that time of the year already?!
Bummer ’bout the game. That’s almost as bad as D – only in his case it was more like 18 years than 18 months, & he ended up with 2 broken ribs & a bruised kidney.
Good thing it’s a game played by gentlemen 😉

You can take comfort in the fact that if you played now the whole ‘weaker team’ thing would be in serious dispute. Hope you manage to recover in time for the next one.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HooooHoooHoo !!
Damn, am I glad I read this….
I have a few observations here. Firstly, even though you may THINK
you are still young, fit and supple…you AINT !! Secondly , you are too lold for that shit ! I decided that I would start playing rugby again after a “Short” (25 year ) Break….
Ha ! I was so stiff I couldnt move for a week (or was it two? )! Then just when I got a bit fitter I opted to go on Tour to Argentina to play a few “Friendlies” with the lads…
We were un-beaten and I played all 3 matches but came back home in Bits ( 2 broken ribs and a bruised Kidney) Pissed blood for a month and decided OK, I am officially too lod for this shit !!SO now I am an Avid armchair rugby supporter – and havent been injured yet ! Although I am seriously taking up Squash again …
