Misfits rugby match report

Last weekend was my first league game of the season and we came up against our old foe – the Rams! After giving us a thumping in our first game and then just a mild beating in the second last season, we were expecting the worst.

Within five minutes, we were 5 – 0 down. Not a good sign. We managed to score 2 tries to be 14 – 5 up but their giants kept coming and they soon scored again. 14-12 to us at half time.

Coming into the second half, we had more confidence. We had held them out so far, so why couldn’t we win the game. We scored first but they scored back within 2 minutes. We still led 19 – 17.

But then the flood gates opened. We scored 3 more tries in quick succession thanks to some great handling and some amazing support play. Our defense also looked good and we only leaked 1 more try in the dying minutes of the game.

Final score: 36 – 24
