I'll have iSnack 2.0 on toast please

Sound ridiculous? Well, it’s not. That’s what Kraft have named their new spread. “iSnack 2.0”! It’s actually Vegemite with cream cheese.

They came up with the product after the people asked for a spread which wouldn’t require butter on the bread first. I’ve tasted it. It tastes like Vegemite and cheese and I’m not a Vegemite fan. Give me Marmite any day.

Kraft then held a competition to name the new product. And some webgeek came up with the winner (can you tell?). Well, apparently it was the best name out of 48000 entries!

And the winner is West Australian web designer Dean Robbins, 27 with Vegemite iSnack 2.0“!

Well, it’s one of those Epic Fail things. It’s all over Twitter (#vegefail), blogs and newspapers today. There is even an entire blog dedicated to listing alternative names for the product! It’s called isnack2.com

Simon Talbot from Kraft Foods said: “The name Vegemite iSnack2.0 was chosen based on its personal call to action, relevance to snacking and clear identification of a new and different Vegemite to the original. We believe these three components completely encapsulate the new brand.”

Have we really become that obsessed with the internet and all things techo?

    Think it’ll catch on?

“Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, “Do you speak-a my language?”
He just smiled and gave me an iSnack 2.0 sandwich”

    Nahhh.

I reckon their entire marketing department should be sacked. Surely there must’ve been something better in all those 48000 other entries..?!

It really has been a disaster and a success at the same time.
