Misfit mismatch

So I survived a whole game on Saturday. No popping hamstring, no broken bones. Just a bruised thigh and a battered ego. We lost. No, actually, we got thumped. I lost count after the opposition scored their 10th try. A little embarrasing to say the least.

We battled against a bigger, fitter team (full of Samoans, Fijians and Maoris I might add!) with our depleted side. Two of our players were still nursing injuries and we ‘borrowed’ 3 players from another team.

I managed an intercept (beware Brian Habana) but couldn’t hold onto the ball. I set up our only try with a 25m run down the left wing, side-stepping 2 players before running into a brick wall of a centre (the one that scored most of their tries)! I also attempted to tackle Mr Brick Wall at one stage. He dragged me about 15m before shaking me off like a piece of used tissue paper. It wasn’t pretty.

Hopefully this week will be a better ‘show’ for the spectators!

Maybe you should try playing against a (high) school team. They might be fitter but they are smaller and they haven’t yet heard of the shoulder jab and the ‘boot in’.
