He/she/it debate…

We went for our second scan last week. To tell what sex the baby is. Unfortunately, we still don’t know, so now it will have to be a surprise.

The ‘scanologist’ was great! She talked us through everything, pointing out various body parts and organs. When it came to sex time though, there was a problem. She said that the umbilical cord was up between the legs and blocking the view. Being a red-blooded South African male, I knew that it wasn’t the umbilical cord… if you know what I mean. Anyway, Deb and the nurse are convinced that it’s a girl because it was stubborn and wouldn’t turn over to be measured. We’ll have to wait and see. Check out the picture on the Baby Blog.

Last weekend we also celebrated my son, Nic’s, 8th birthday. It started with a present treasure hunt in the morning and ended with pizza for dinner and ‘Polar Express in 3D’ for afters! What a great movie. We’d seen it before, but in 3D it was amazing! By the time we got home it was midnight and we finished the evening off with hot chocolate in bed!

Last week I also had a visit from a very special person – my best friend from school. I haven’t seen him in almost 10 years and he popped in for 2 days on his way home from Australia/Hong Kong (where he works) to South Africa (where he lives). Of course, we did loads of catching up and reminisced about old times. It was great to see him again and I hope I don’t have to wait another 10 years before seeing him again!

Now we’re into that last week before Christmas, so I guess you’re all really busy. Make sure you find time to write on your blogs…

Chat soon,
Del

We didn’t ask the sex for both our boys. It adds something to the moment when you don’t know, plus you can’t change it anyway.

The poor mite was probably trying to get away from the ultrasound scanner. I believe all the fluid makes it sound like Steve Hoffmeyer on acid.
