Welcome baby Isi

What an amazing last 9 months we have had……

It all started with the news that we were having another baby, planned of course but quicker than expected. We then packed up our life in London and travelled home to Australia via the USA and Canada and here we are now 10 days into the life of baby Isabel…..

After a rather stressful pregnancy with Joshua we were really hoping for a nice smooth one for Isabel and right up until a few days before our planned c-section all was well. I was suffering a little from the hot weather and the fact that she was going to be another big baby but otherwise loving being pregnant.

Sunday 13th Jan I got up feeling rather shabby, took some panadol and thought all would be ok. I went shopping with my mum in the arvo, but after that I was experiencing some great pain, actually could hardly walk. By about 10pm I had had enough and called the hospital and asked them what I should do. They told me to come into the hospital. One small catch we did not have a car as it had broken down earlier that day, so an emotional phone call to my folks and 30 mins later they arrived to drive us to the hospital.

I was taken into a birthing room to have a full check up to make sure bub was ok and I was not going into labour. All was good, but they decided to keep us there overnight just in case. At about 7am we were moved to a ward and after a visit from the doctors at about 9.30 am we were admitted and prepped for c-section. It all again happened so fast but by 11.50 am we were blessed with a beautiful little girl weighing in at 4.92kg, 53cm long and a great set of lungs. They held her up to me; she was just so cute it brought a tear to my eye. She was cleaned, checked and wrapped and given to me for cuddles. I just did not want to let her go.

Later that afternoon Joshua came in to meet his little sister and things were all a bit much for him. When he arrived Isabel had been crying and it scared him a bit so he just wanted his grandma. By the end of the visit he came for a kiss goodbye. The second day was a complete turn around; he could not get enough of her and ever since has been the same - a perfect big brother.

Isabel Jorja has been a great little baby, her sleeping the first few days were a little bit all over the place but that’s to be expected, the midwives even baby-sat one night so I could get some sleep. She feeds often and we have had a few problems latching on well all the time but she is definitely getting enough milk as she is putting on about 40 grams a day.

Two nights ago I decided to start sleeping her in her cot in her own room, which for me is a big thing as we had Josh in our room in his cot for the first 6 months. Needless to say I have not slept too much but proud that she is in her own room and she even slept for 6 hours straight last night. I had to wake her at 5am for a feed.

Isabel has a funny little cry, sounds a bit like a crow. Her belly peg came off yesterday and she currently has an outie for a belly button. Her skin is just so soft and a head full of brown hair which we think will go blonde. Her eyes are blue at the moment but we will see what colour they go. She has already grown out of some of her clothes and is wearing a size 000 already. We had our first day out yesterday as a family which was great. Once we put pushers, prams, bags etc in the boot of the car we had hardly any room left for anything. Not looking forward to the first time shopping or more to the point not sure where the shopping will go.

I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent there love, well wishes and for all the visitors and prezzies.

I would also like to say that besides having the 2 most beautiful kids, how lucky I am to have a wonder fiancée like Del. He has been amazing and is making my recovery so much easier. Babe love you so much, you are the best……

It has certaintly been a lot easier having a baby at home with family around. We had great support from friends in London but having all the family at home has made life a lot easier especially with Josh. We love you all……

Well must go, my little princess is waking up for her next feed. Until the next time….good night and sweet dreams xo
