Camping at Venus Bay

After a 1 hour 45 minute drive, we arrived in Venus Bay and stopped at the local take away for lunch. After pie and chips, we drove the last 300m to the camp grounds.

As soon as we pulled the tent out of it’s bag, it started to rain. Just a light drizzle, but coupled with the 26C heat it made pitching the tent hard work and the cold beer afterwards was well deserved!

The forecasted 1mm of rain soon turned into 30mm which meant that our evening meal was consumed at the local pub – fish & chips, salt & pepper squid, Guinness pie and lamb shanks were on the menu.

Day 2 started early; 6.30am early! When the kids woke up. By 10am it was already 25C outside. Our day was spent reading, cooking Christmas roast for lunch, in the pool or at the beach. The evening was Texas Hold ’em time and we had planned for an early night, but the kids soon put pay to that. They eventually passed out around 10.30pm.

Day 3 we got to sleep in until around 8.30am and after breakfast we headed into Inverloch… which is where I’m posting this from. We have no phone signal or Internet in Venus Bay.

Off to the beach now after watching the first 45 minutes of the cricket in the pub.

Hiya! Sounds like you have been lucky with the weather compared to all the people that had planned an outdoor-Christmas in Sydney (approx. 90%) … It has been raining here non stop since the 25th. So I guess I’m quite lucky being German as we celebrate Christmas on the 24th! Sunshine all day 🙂

I hope you don’t have to go back to work before 2010!
