If I hear another thing about Tiger Woods in Melbourne, I think I’m going to rip somebody’s head off! He’s not the Messiah, he’s just a very, very rich boy! (Apologies to Monty Python)
Since arriving 3 days ago, every local paper and news channel has his face plastered across them. Channel 9 has even gone to the extremes of cutting into regular programming to show Mr Woods teeing off, shaking the hand of a local politician or picking his nose!
If you do a Google search for “Tiger Woods” in the news over the last 24 hours, you will see almost 5000 results. FIVE THOUSAND!
And while Mr Woods was strutting his stuff and earning his A$3.3 million appearance fee, the top Aussie golfers were in Marysville (which was burned to the ground in the Black Saturday fires in February), playing a charity golf tournament to raise money for the local community.
PS: Tiger wouldn’t even have his photo taken with fans or sign autographs!

It’s not just local papers and news – it’s national. And brings out the most pathetic in some states. (Well, not that I consider The Mercury to be a real newspaper to to carry anything resembling news!!) http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2009/11/09/108755_sport-news.html

Just wait ’til Britney hits town – then Tiger will be old news.

@Snuva: It’ll be worse if he wins the golf!
@6000: I beg to differ – http://www.whoswhosa.co.za/Pages/profilefull.aspx?IndID=6300
@Terri: Unfortunately, Britney got here first. As did ‘Good Charlotte’. But since Tiger arrived, there’s been no sign of them in the news.

Tiger Woods incident doesn’t make sense. Where was he in such a rush to get to?. It will all come out in the wash. Still so curious.
