Back in business

I spent most of last week at home, sick again.

I made a trip to the doctors on Wednesday because I’d had enough of the scratchy throat and annoying cough that I’d had for the past 3 weeks. He looked in my ears, he looked up my nose, he looked down my throat. Redness. He prescribed some penicillin drug and took a swab of my throat. Apparently, whooping cough is doing the rounds in Australia and he just wanted to make sure that I don’t have it. Being highly contagious, I stayed home. Luckily, I don’t have it!

And a brighter note, my cousin and her hubby finally arrived from Dublin. They’ve been trying to escape the cold and wet over there for around two years now and the Aussie government finally granted them residency over here. They spent last week with us, relaxing and recovering from the packing/flights/jet-lag before heading off to Brisbane on Friday. They are taking a leisurely, 5-day drive via Canberra and Sydney to their new home in Queensland.

Oh yes, I’d like to thank my Pom friends for making my life even brighter by winning the Ashes, relegating the Aussies to number two four in the world, promoting the Proteas to number 1 in the world and making my father-in-law a little less one-eyed when it comes to cricket. OK, so maybe the last bit will never happen, but I can dream!
