Riding The Ridgeway

Well, we did the macho thing yesterday and ‘Rode The Ridgeway‘!

Brad and I headed off to Chinnor in Buckinghamshire yesterday morning for a ‘serious’ mountain bike outing! Needless to say, it was 30km of hell!

It would probably have been a whole lot better if we were both a bit fitter.

It was heaps more exciting than the New Forest rides I did last week. There was bucket loads of mud from the previous day’s rain which made the descents very challenging!

The route itself varies from quiet woodlands to screaming descents and one very long steep uphill (which I pushed my bike up!)

And of course, there was the obligatory lunch stop at the pub, The Crown, for a couple of pints and a sarmie!

We also managed to take a few wrong turns, so instead of doing 23km according to the route, we ended up doubling back a few times and managed to do 29.5km!

I would love to be this active! But when I think of a bicycle ride and 30km, all I see are blisters and chaffing.

Don’t worry guys. All this activity won’t last much longer. As soon as that first winter rain shower kicks in, I turn back into a couch potato/internet geek!
